A €51m Italy-Malta programme 2014-20 was approved by the European Commission,  enabling Malta and Sicily to build on projects embarked upon during the 2007-2013 programming period.

The Secretariat for EU Funds pointed out that the programme grants funds for projects involving at least one Sicilian and one Maltese partner.

The projects have to be focused on specific areas such as:

  • Strengthening Research
  • Technological Development and Innovation
  • Promoting competitiveness in the cross-border area
  • Protecting the environment
  • Fostering efficient use of resources

 Who can benefit from this programme?

  • SMEs and micro enterprises
  • Newly established enterprises
  • Clusters / Districts
  • Universities
  • Regional and national research institutions
  • Public administrations
  • Higher education schools (technical high schools)
  • Public and Private research centres
  • Scientific Parks and category associations
