KSi Malta participated in the Morison KSi European conference held in Berlin.

78 delegates and 22 companions met in Berlin, Germany on 20-22 October for another successful Morison KSi conference.

The conference welcomed Dr Birgit Felden from the EMF-Institut, who provided the keynote on Germany’s family owned businesses - the backbone to Germany’s economy.

Morison KSi has strong representation in Germany, with 11 member firms. Uwe Muller (Audit Tax & Consulting Services GmbH, Germany) provided an excellent introduction to the German members and business opportunities in Germany.

Other popular sessions included an update on the association’s progress by Liza Robbins (CEO, Morison KSi), a regional progress report by Jon Sutcliffe (Chair of the European region) and a session showcasing member led initiatives.

In the afternoon Morison KSi shared sessions with members of IAG (an international law network), starting with Melinda Crane, Chief Political Correspondent of Deutsche Welle (Germany’s international broadcaster) who shared fascinating insights into the forthcoming US election.

Other sessions included speed-networking and a presentation by Jeff Singer (Morison KSi member - ILV SILVER, Spain) and Jim Miller (IAG member - Shepherd, Finkelman, Miller & Shah, LLP, US) on how accountants and lawyers can work together for mutual benefit.

The day ended with a lively panel discussion on Brexit facilitated by Arthur Bailey (Consultant, Kingston Smith, UK). The panel debated on the likely effects on doing business in the UK as well as the possible opportunities it could bring.

Day two’s theme was managing, retaining and developing young leaders and was led and facilitated by Mark Twum-Ampofo, HR Partner, Kingston Smith, UK. The session comprised of panel discussions and an open forum where both young and experienced leaders shared experiences of their “journey to partnership”.

In addition to the professional programme, guests enjoyed lively social activities, including dinners at some of Berlin’s top restaurants, an evening of entertainment at Bar Jeder Vernunft and a relaxing sightseeing tour allowing plenty of networking opportunities.
