Wage Supplement Extension and Water & Electricity Refunds

Reece Delia  -  1/September/2020

The Wage Supplement Scheme – this has now been extended to the end of October 2020 until new measures are revealed sometime in October in the Budget for the year 2021.

Moreover, the Government of Malta, through the support of Malta Enterprise, has issued yet another scheme to reduce costs for businesses and support their operating expenditure in light of the restrictions they are currently facing due to the global COVID-19 pandemic.

All businesses benefitting from the COVID Wage Supplement, that is, all those businesses whose activity falls under one of the NACE Codes identified in Annexes A, B and C as published by Malta Enterprise, will be able to benefit from a refund of 50% of the electrical power bills for any bill partially or fully paid covering the months of July to September 2020.

Businesses with one outlet may claim up to €1,500 whilst those having multiple outlets may claim up to a maximum of €7,500 depending on the number of employees receiving the wage supplement and the number of electricity accounts. Refunds will be given in multiple tranches once verifications with ARMS have been carried out.

All those of you applying for the Wage Supplement should, by now, have received an email to apply. For the application you will require:

  1. Your ARMS Electricity Account Number
  2. A verification of the account number through the submission of a scanned copy of a previous electricity bill prior to July 2020
  3. A signed and scanned copy of the Enterprise in Difficulty Declaration Form (to be sent by Malta Enterprise)
  4. A signed and scanned copy of the Aid Recovered Form (to be sent by Malta Enterprise)

As always, we are offering to assist our clients to fill in this application form for a minimal fee. Kindly contact us for more details.
